Ready-to-race G50 in GCC

A budget alternative for local GT racing

Ready-to-race G50 in GCC

Those looking for a competitive but affordable way into the UAE’s GT Championship or Dubai’s annual 24 hour race may want to look this way. GulfSport Racing, a Middle East specialist in racecar sales, servicing and preparation is now offering a homologated, FIA-spec GT car.

The Ginetta G50 will fit into the GTB class of the UAE GT Championship and is priced at $ 77,000, making it considerably cheaper than a Porsche or  Corvette competing in the same category.

GulfSport Racing will offer support to drivers and race teams who want to enter the championship, which means that it’s now the first company in the region to represent a category manufacturer with sales, trackside and engineering support.

Built in the town of Leeds, in the UK, the G50 has a 3.5-litre Ford V6 with 295bhp and a sequential Quaife transmission. Included are adjustable Ohlin dampers and a MOTEC data logger. The G50’s space frame chassis is also crash tested to a level in excess of FIA GT2 standards.

GulfSport is also offering ‘Try Before You Buy’ days, where those interested in the car can take a tour of Ginetta’s facilities and participate in a test day on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit to get a feel for how competitive the car will be. The price of the test day is c$ 600, plus flights and accommodation.

In 2008, the G50 won the British GT Championship in the GT4 category, winning all 14 races and taking 13 out of 14 pole positions.
