Scheduled for 2009 the provisional calendar for the first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo – the world’s fastest one-make series – will run on May 3rd at Silverstone Circuit in the UK, culminating on October 4th in Monza, Italy.
The Super Trofeo will be the only one-make, all-wheel drive motorsport series in the world, with a 30-strong grid, available to individual professional and Lamborghini dealer teams, as well as wealthy chaps and lasses who have a few notes to throw around at the weekend. Lamborghini has a clear objective to ensure the series is the fastest one-make series in the world, as well as being the only four-wheel drive one-make series.
The cars will be lightweight versions of the LP 560-4 featuring a reworked chassis, a significantly reduced weight of only 1300kg and 570bhp. Talking of the plans, Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said; ‘We’re delighted to announce The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. Both on-track and off, our championship will reflect the Lamborghini brand, with extreme, high
performance racing and stylish and luxurious trackside facilities. This gives our Lamborghini clients, as well as professional and gentleman racing drivers looking for a new challenge, the opportunity to experience Lamborghini in the ultimate driving environment.’
