Commiserations to Mohammed Al Falasi and his Corvette, who were unable to make round six of the humid and flood-lit DAMC Sprint Challenge at the Dubai Autodrome due to family commitments. Which means congratulations go to evo contributor Harris Irfan – Al Falasi’s closest challenger so far this season – who was able to take top honours in Class G. Harris’ Porsche GT3 performed faultlessly, over a second quicker than his nearest car rival. His win closed the gap on Championship leader Al Falasi to a mere four points, ensuring a showdown on the final race day – although he admitted that the task to overcome the pace setting Corvette would be a tough one. But as they say, anything can happen in motorsport. Trailing in second place overall and eventual winner of Class E (fours seconds ahead of his nearest challenger) was Motaz Abu Hijleh, of TAM Auto Engineering, ensuring Motaz is the champion in this class with a round still to go.
