Volkswagen Eos 2.0 FSI

Volkswagen Eos 2.0 FSI

Seriously, I swear Jon's addicted to Volkswagens, if not on a paid retainer from Wolfsburg. As soon as I mentioned that I wanted a fun weekend car, to accompany my trusty Nissan Armada photography studio on wheels, I had every VW brocuhure thrust under my nose. I may have blatently ignored his advice, stupidly, to buy a 2007 Golf GTI, but I did remain true to the brand by researching the Eos avenue.

I am slightly annoyed at the inapropriate wood trim inside and the factory alloys grate on me, but the most frustrating thing I found has to be the 120kph alarm. This was easily rectified by a quick visit to the Octane Service Centre, off Sheikh Zayed road, where the annoying buzzer was muted forever.

I have also put a fair few kilometres on the clock this month, mostly on the roads to the shops and cinema, while my girlfriend Sandra and I have been to Oman on two occassions, with the lovely lady using the Eos on most days as the daily driver. There haven't been any complaints either. I on the otherhand have a bit of bug bear about the seats; they are hugely uncomfortable, which surprised me. I hate the steering wheel too - my complaint being it should be detailed with the words Eos - and the chunky automatic shifter is a little too uncooth compared to that of the Golf GTI to which my Eos shares a 2,0-litre 16v turbo engine. One thing I can't seem to shift though is the urge to modifiy it.
