Happy Birthday. This month has seen the first anniversary of my marriage to Porsche. And I must admit that it has been a very pleasurable year, full of happy moments, exhilarating experiences, glances of envy and a couple of female winks.
Sometimes, doing your homework pays off. A year ago I managed to negotiate4 on my insurance from a starting point of $ 4000 to $ 2300. Now imagine my surprise when, after another accident free/no-claims year, my new insurance is going to cost $ 3100… And the Cayman’s value has dropped by 15 per cent...Very politely, I explained the situation that I had paid so much last year and that, along with the car’s value, the insurance premium had to drop. After 20 minutes, the quote was turned into $ 2400. Patience is my last name so I again politely answered back stating the original car value, original premium, current value, and that the new premium should be $ 1950 for the same coverage. Two days later my suggestion was approved. I knew logic would win them over.
On more technical matters, i still haven’t been able to match Porsche’s claimed 0-100kph time of 5sec, despite running in the engine and having loosened it up. Times vary from 5.6 to 6.2sec. Never the promised five, though.
